Honestly the most difficult part for me was getting the backing off of the adhesive layer grasping the tiny pull tab surprisingly gave me a bit of trouble. I used my wife's old hair dryer to warm the soffit. Bubuski-approved method of tucking away the wires. I washed the eaves - surprisingly clean - then followed the Mrs. Miraculously my house - peaked garage out front, straight run to the front door, then left turn where the door is - needed exactly 50 feet I took ground-level measurements before ordering just to get a sense of my needs, then upon receipt temporarily hung the strings on standard Christmas light hooks to get a more accurate idea of positioning.
